Isabella Shaw is a Colorado-born, Finland-based mezzo-soprano, writer, and multidisciplinary artist whose background spans opera, early and experimental music, and literature.

Shaw’s current artistic work explores decolonization, mythology, physical and metaphysical ecosystems, and music by BIPOC composers. She is also a founding member of the experimental early music ensembles Emrys and Motus Harmonicus.

In La Doriclea: Inter-Acts, Shaw performs the role of Doriclea and is one of the work’s co-creators.

Isabella Shaw on Coloradosta lähtöisin oleva, Suomessa asuva mezzosopraano, kirjailija ja monialainen taiteilija, jonka tausta ulottuu oopperasta vanhaan ja kokeelliseen musiikkiin sekä kirjallisuuteen.

Shaw’n tämänhetkinen taiteellinen työ keskittyy muun muassa dekolonisaatioon, mytologiaan, fyysisiin ja metafyysisiin ekosysteemeihin sekä marginalisoitujen säveltäjien musiikkiin. Hän on myös kokeellisten vanhan musiikin yhtyeiden Emrysin ja Motus Harmonicuksen perustajajäsen.

Rachel is a British-born soprano and pianist who grew up on the west coast of Canada and is now based in Berlin. Known for her self-accompanying performances, her 2024 debut album Winterreise is the first-ever self accompanied recording of Schubert’s song cycle. The album was named Album of the Week by BBC Radio 3, CBC, and Gramophone.

Rachel has performed at Konzerthaus Berlin, Martha Argerich Festival, Premier Performances Hong Kong, Juan March Madrid, Vancouver Recital Society, Oxford Lieder Festival, Music Toronto, Salle Bourgie Montreal, Settimane Musicali di Ascona, and the National Arts Centre. In 2025, Rachel made her U.S. debut at SXSW Festival in Austin, bringing her self-accompanied recital to one of the world’s most influential pop festivals.

In La Doriclea: Inter-Acts, Fenlon performs the role of Eurinda.

Rachel on Britanniassa syntynyt sopraano ja pianisti, joka varttui Kanadan länsirannikolla ja asuu nykyisin Berliinissä. Hänet tunnetaan erityisesti konserteista, joissa hän säestää itseään pianolla. Teiya Kasahara 笠原貞野 (they/he) is a Nikkei Canadian transgender interdisciplinary artist and opera disruptor based in Tkarón:to, whose work explores the intersections of identity. Their critically acclaimed operatic play The Queen In Me has toured across Canada and internationally.

In La Doriclea: Inter-Acts, Kasahara performs the role of Miko and is one of the work’s co-creators and co-directors.

Teiya Kasahara 笠原貞野 (they/he) on Tkarón:tossa (Torontossa) toimiva Nikkei-kanadalainen transsukupuolinen oopperalaulaja ja monialainen taiteilija, joka haastaa ja uudelleenajattelee oopperan perinteitä.

Kasahara tarkastelee taiteessaan identiteettien risteyskohtia. Hänen tunnetuimpiin töihinsä kuuluu kiitetty oopperallinen näytelmä The Queen In Me, jota on esitetty eri puolilla Kanadaa ja kansainvälisesti.

DMus Debi Wong is an award-winning Canadian XR producer, creative director, and multidisciplinary artist, and the Founding Artistic Director of Vancouver-based re:Naissance Immersive. Her work brings opera and performance together with immersive technologies and new forms of storytelling.

Wong’s co-created Live From The Underworld received two AUREA XR Awards, and she has been named to XP Land’s XLIST of the world’s 100 most influential experiential designers.

In La Doriclea: Inter-Acts, Wong performs the role of Dee and is one of the work’s co-creators and co-directors.

MuT Debi Wong on kanadalainen palkittu XR-tuottaja, luova johtaja ja monialainen taiteilija sekä Vancouverissa toimivan re:Naissance Immersiven perustanut taiteellinen johtaja. Hänen työssään ooppera ja esitystaide kohtaavat immersiiviset teknologiat ja uudenlaiset tarinankerronnan muodot.

Antonia Atarah is a Ghanaian-Finnish actor and performer with a Master’s degree in Acting from the Theatre Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki, complemented by studies in musical theatre.

Atarah made her debut at Svenska Teatern in the acclaimed title role of Ronja the Robber’s Daughter. She has explored a wide range of performing arts forms and practices with groups in Finland, Germany, Ghana, and Tanzania.

In La Doriclea: Inter-Acts, Atarah performs the role of Enn.

Antonia Atarah on ghanalais-suomalainen näyttelijä ja esiintyjä, joka on valmistunut Teatterikorkeakoulun näyttelijäntaiteen maisteriohjelmasta ja opiskellut lisäksi musiikkiteatteria.

Atarah debytoi Svenska Teaternissa kiitetyssä Ronja Ryövärintyttären pääroolissa. Hän työskentelee monipuolisesti eri esittävän taiteen muotojen ja menetelmien parissa Suomessa ja kansainvälisesti.

DMus Matias Häkkinen is a Finnish harpsichordist and conductor whose work moves between early music and the experimental sound worlds of the present day.

Häkkinen’s work is rooted in historical instruments and musical styles while seeking new connections between different art forms and musical cultures. He founded Ensemble Nylandia in 2009 and serves as its Artistic Director.

Häkkinen conducted Ensemble Nylandia’s La Doriclea in 2024. In La Doriclea: Inter-Acts, he is a co-creator, conductor and musical director.

MuT Matias Häkkinen on suomalainen cembalisti ja kapellimestari, joka liikkuu työssään vanhan musiikin ja nykyajan kokeellisten äänimaailmojen välillä.

Häkkisen työskentely pohjautuu historiallisiin soittimiin ja musiikkityyleihin, mutta etsii samalla uusia yhteyksiä eri taiteenlajien ja musiikillisten kulttuurien välille. Hän perusti Ensemble Nylandian vuonna 2009 ja toimii sen taiteellisena johtajana.

Häkkinen johti Ensemble Nylandian La Doriclean Suomen ensiesityksen vuonna 2024. Myös La Doriclea: Inter-Actsissa hän toimii kapellimestarina, musiikillisena johtajana ja sovittajana sekä kuuluu taiteelliseen työryhmään.

Olga Spyropoulou is an Athens-born, Helsinki-based performance and theatre artist, researcher, and Artistic Director of the Reality Research Center. Her practice spans theatre, performance art, literature, and visual arts.

Central to Spyropoulou’s artistic work are interpersonal relationships, different forms of spectatorship, and non-hierarchical working methods.

Spyropoulou directed Ensemble Nylandia’s La Doriclea in 2024 and is a co-creator and co-director of La Doriclea: Inter-Acts.

Olga Spyropoulou on Ateenassa syntynyt, Helsingissä toimiva esitys- ja teatteritaiteilija, tutkija ja Todellisuuden tutkimuskeskuksen taiteellinen johtaja. Hänen työskentelynsä ulottuu teatterista esitystaiteeseen, kirjallisuuteen ja visuaaliseen taiteeseen.

Spyropouloun taiteellisessa työssä keskeisiä ovat ihmisten väliset suhteet, katsojuuden erilaiset muodot sekä ei-hierarkkiset työskentelymenetelmät.

Spyropoulou ohjasi Ensemble Nylandian La Doriclean vuonna 2024 ja toimii La Doriclea: Inter-Actsissa yhtenä ohjaajista ja kuuluu taiteelliseen työryhmään.

Alexis Fletcher is a Canadian dance artist, choreographer, and producer, and the Founding Co-Artistic Director of Belle Spirale Dance Projects, with Sylvain Senez. She spent fourteen years as a dancer with Ballet BC and has continued her relationship with the company as a guest artist, Artist in Residence, and Guest Rehearsal Director.

Fletcher’s artistic practice is rooted in collaboration and interdisciplinary creation, bringing together dance with other art forms and artistic perspectives.

In La Doriclea: Inter-Acts, Fletcher is a co-creator and co-director and serves as choreographer in collaboration with the performers.

Alexis Fletcher on kanadalainen tanssitaiteilija, koreografi ja tuottaja sekä Belle Spirale Dance Projectsin perustanut taiteellinen johtaja yhdessä Sylvain Senezin kanssa. Hän työskenteli neljätoista vuotta Ballet BC:n tanssijana ja on jatkanut yhteistyötään ryhmän kanssa vierailevana taiteilijana, residenssitaiteilijana ja vierailevana harjoitusjohtajana.

Luke Hathaway

Luke Hathaway is a Canadian poet, librettist, and theatre-maker whose work moves between poetry, music, and performance. He is a founding member of ANIMA and a core member of Fractal Arts Collective, and teaches literature and creative writing at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax.

Hathaway has published four collections of poetry. His collection The Affirmations was named one of The Times’ best books of the year.

In La Doriclea: Inter-Acts, Hathaway is a co-creator, collaborating librettist, and one of the work’s co-directors.

Luke Hathaway on kanadalainen runoilija, libretisti ja teatterintekijä, jonka työ liikkuu runouden, musiikin ja esitystaiteen välillä. Hän on ANIMA-yhtyeen perustajajäsen ja Fractal Arts Collectiven ydinjäsen sekä opettaa kirjallisuutta ja luovaa kirjoittamista Saint Mary’s Universityssä Halifaxissa.

Keagan Elrick

Keagan Elrick is a Vancouver-based lighting designer and founder of Key Lighting Ltd. With over fifteen years of experience, their work spans theatre, film, concerts, festivals, immersive experiences, and live events.

A graduate of Studio 58, Elrick is particularly interested in the interplay of light, colour, and shadow and in the ways lighting shapes the atmosphere and perception of a performance.

In La Doriclea: Inter-Acts, Elrick is the lighting designer.

Keagan Elrick on Vancouverissa toimiva valosuunnittelija ja Key Lighting Ltd:n perustaja. Hänellä on yli viidentoista vuoden kokemus valosuunnittelusta teatterin, elokuvan, konserttien, festivaalien, immersiivisten esitysten ja tapahtumien parissa.

Leopold Nicolaus

Berlin-born baroque violinist Leopold Nicolaus is co-founder of the German early music ensemble Weimar Baroque. He studied in Weimar and at the Mozarteum Salzburg. In La Doriclea: Inter-Acts, Nicolaus plays baroque violin and is one of the co-creators.

Berliinissä syntynyt barokkiviulisti Leopold Nicolaus on saksalaisen Weimar Baroque -yhtyeen perustaja. Hän opiskeli Weimarissa ja Salzburgin Mozarteumissa. La Doriclea: Inter-Actsissa Nicolaus soittaa barokkiviulua ja kuuluu teoksen taiteelliseen työryhmään.

Vera Plosila is a Finnish traverso player based in Germany and Switzerland. She is a co-founder of the Finnish Renaissance traverso consort Intrā vīrēs. She studied at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague and is currently extending her knowledge of Renaissance music through advanced studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. Plosila works internationally as an orchestral and chamber musician across Europe. In La Doriclea: Inter-Acts, she plays Renaissance traverso and is one of the co-creators.

Ensemble Nylandia is a Finnish early music collective and baroque orchestra founded in Helsinki in 2009. Led by Artistic Director Matias Häkkinen, the ensemble brings historical performance practices into dialogue with contemporary music, improvisation and multidisciplinary performance.
